Market Rasen has older brick houses and terraces as well as newer estates, and each needs a slightly different approach to fascias, soffits and guttering. Here is what to think about before you start.
If you are looking up at a sagging gutter or a flaking fascia board in Market Rasen, the first question is usually how old the roofline is. A Victorian terrace, a mid-century semi and a recent estate house all age differently, and the right fix depends on which one you own.
F H Roofing fits and repairs UPVC fascias, soffits, guttering and downpipes across the town and the surrounding area. Sometimes the answer is a short repair, sometimes a full replacement of the lot. We will look at the condition of the timber and the gutters first, then explain the options plainly so you can decide what is worth doing.
Older brick terraces often have timber fascias and soffits that have been painted many times. Once the paint fails, water gets behind it and the board rots from the inside. Replacing with UPVC means stripping back to the rafter ends, fixing new boards, and adding soffit panels with ventilation where the roof space needs it. On a terrace the roofline is usually shared in appearance with neighbours, so colour and profile matter. Terraces also have limited access at the back and sometimes shared eaves details, so a quick survey helps. Newer estate houses may only need one side done or a single damaged length swapped, and we are happy to say if that is all it takes.
Most gutter complaints come down to three things: leaking joints, sagging runs and blockage. A joint that drips can often be resealed or replaced without touching the rest. A run that sags usually needs its brackets reset or added, because water pooling in the middle adds weight and strains the fixings. If the system is brittle, cracked or has been patched repeatedly, a full replacement with new downpipes is more sensible. Blocked gutter clearance is worth doing in autumn, especially under trees. Where a downpipe discharges against a wall or into a poor drain, we can discuss changing its route so the water goes somewhere sensible.
On brick homes, white UPVC is traditional and black gives a crisp contrast, particularly with darker window frames. For larger roofs or houses that overflow in heavy rain, deep flow guttering carries more water than the standard half-round. Seamless guttering is another option, so ask us whether it suits your property. Before ordering anything, check the old timber. Press along the underside of the fascia and look at the soffit near corners. Discoloured, soft or crumbling areas point to rot, which should be cut out and replaced rather than boxed in. Any rafter ends affected should be checked as well.
Market Rasen is a small market town at the foot of the Wolds, so the properties range from older brick houses and terraces to newer estates on the edge of town. That mix means we rarely treat two jobs the same way. We cover the town itself and the roads around it, and we also work across Louth, Brigg and Lincoln, which is handy if you are weighing up a quote for a property in one of those places. A free quotation comes first, and we will explain what we found on the roofline in plain language, with no pressure to commit.
We also take on UPVC fascias, soffits and guttering work in nearby Louth, Brigg, Lincoln.

Yes, if the guttering is still sound. Gutters usually have to come off to renew the fascia, so we refit them afterwards. It makes sense to look at their condition at the same time, because replacing worn guttering later means taking the new boards' brackets apart again.
Look for peeling paint, dark staining, sagging panels, gaps where birds or insects get in, or damp patches that return. Soffits that are intact and dry often only need cleaning, but any soft timber should be replaced.
It depends on height and access. Many two-storey fronts are done from a tower or ladder platform, while others need full scaffold for safety. We will tell you which applies when we look at the property, before any work is agreed.
