From older brick terraces near the town centre to newer estates on the edges, roofs in Market Rasen need different handling, and we repair leaks, loose tiles and worn ridges across all of them.
A roof leak in an old brick terrace is a different problem from the same leak on a ten-year-old estate house. The materials, the way the roof was put together and the likely weak points all differ. Knowing that before climbing up saves time and avoids repairs that do not last.
F H Roofing works out of Beckingham and covers Market Rasen, as well as the surrounding Wolds villages. We deal with pitched roofs, flat sections and the details in between, and we explain what we find in everyday language. If you want a free quotation, we are happy to look first and talk afterwards.
Slipped and cracked tiles are the starting point for many calls. Older roofs may have tiles that have simply worn out or nail fixings that have rusted through, while newer ones sometimes suffer from poorly bedded ridge tiles or valleys full of leaves and moss. Terraced homes add another point: a shared roofline and party walls mean flashings and verges matter a lot. Leaks often show up first at a ceiling corner or round a chimney breast. We replace like for like where we can, so the repair blends in with the rest of the roof.
The honest answer depends on the whole roof, not just the hole. We look at the condition of tiles across each slope, the felt where we can see it, the battens and the state of the loft. A single failed flashing on a roof that is otherwise sound is clearly a repair. A roof with widespread slipping, brittle felt and recurring leaks is a different matter, and spending repeatedly on patches may cost more in the long run than a proper renewal. We lay out both routes so you can weigh them up without pressure.
A roof problem does not always stay on the roof. Chimney stacks may need repointing or new flashings, and leaking flat roofs over kitchens and extensions need a patch or a new covering rather than tiles. Blocked gutters can soak walls and fascias, and after strong winds there may be storm damage to several parts at once. Moss on shaded slopes holds water against tiles and is removed by hand with scraping and brushing, never harsh treatment. Our team deals with each of these, so you are not passed from one contractor to the next.
Market Rasen sits at the foot of the Wolds, so exposed hillside properties can get a different dose of wind and rain from houses down in the town. That is worth bearing in mind when we decide how to fix tiles and ridges on higher ground. We regularly travel between Market Rasen, Louth, Brigg and Lincoln, so a visit here fits easily into our usual routes. If you have a leak that cannot wait, our 24-hour emergency call-out service is there for urgent situations, and we can discuss the longer-term fix once the water is under control.

Often we can find a close match or reuse sound tiles from a less visible slope. It depends on the age and type of tile. If an exact match is not available, we will explain the nearest option and how it will look before starting any work.
Newer roofs usually fail at details, such as flashings, ridge bedding or valleys, rather than across the whole surface. If the tiles look even and the problem is local, a repair is likely. A quick inspection will confirm that.
We offer free quotations, so you will not be asked to pay simply to have the problem looked at and priced. If it is an emergency, we can talk through what is possible when you call. The process is explained before we begin.
