Garage and porch roofs may also need attention. The common thread is that a sound repair, done soon, protects the structure and the rooms beneath it.
We trace water from the stain back through the loft to the likely entry point, rather than assuming it sits directly above. Then we judge the roof as a whole. A single worn flashing or a few broken tiles is a straightforward repair. A covering that is tired throughout, with brittle tiles, rusting fixings and failing underlay, is a candidate for replacement. On a period property there may be additional considerations about materials and appearance, and we will discuss those honestly with you.
A repair visit often uncovers related work. Tall chimneys on period houses may need repointing or new flashings. Flat roofs on rear extensions and garages may be splitting at the seams. Gutters and downpipes may be blocked, causing damp at the eaves. Moss can be taken off by hand, and storm damage can be dealt with in one go. Since we do all of these ourselves, we can look at the roof and its surroundings together and keep the work coordinated.
